Maintenance for Moms first met Beverly in September 2021 when she came to the office for her interview with her 4 year old and 2 month old in tow (and has a Kindergartener as well). She shared her story during the interview about the struggles and challenges she's experienced and not of least is her car. She had saved up and purchased this car for $5000 after graduating from a program that helped her get housing help. However, as soon as she took ownership the car started having issues. The sounds the car made when she drove scared her and she began to feel unsafe having her kids in the car with her.
We sent her to one of our mechanics but the news wasn’t good - he determined it was the transmission. This is a hugely expensive issue and we normally do not undertake such a repair. Our staff talked and we were able to find space in our budget to send her car to have a rebuilt transmission put in. Being able to invest such a large amount of money into such a sweet woman was such a joy and is only possible because of our generous donors.
Beverly says: “Thank you all so much for everything you’ve done for my kids and I. Because of you guys, I’m able to take my son to preschool every day and my daughter to her school and my baby to appointments. I’m constantly driving all day every day and it’s just a great feeling to drive confidently knowing that my car isn’t going to break down. Being a very busy mom this is a really big thing, our car is so important to have and very much needed. We are truly grateful”.
