Sasha is one of the bravest 23 year olds we've ever encountered. She moved to the US 3 years ago, full of excitement. She met a man, got married, found out she was pregnant when the pandemic hit, escaped domestic abuse and has continued to go to school in the midst of homelessness, so that when her work permit arrives she can be ready for a great job. Take a moment and listen in on this amazing young woman's experience...
"I became homeless with my 1 year old baby due to severe domestic violence. All I had left was my old car, which was having a lot of problems. I was referred to Maintenance for Moms...I came for the interview and shared my story with Kathryn and was hoping that organization could help me to fix my car.
However, after the mechanic checked it out, we realized that the car couldn't be fixed and was no longer safe for the baby to be in. I was upset and did not know what to do. But, imagine how happy I was when I was told that Maintenance for Moms would help me get a new car. I was so happy and excited and was looking forward to driving my new car. I am so grateful that I found you, Maintenance for Mom's team! You are changing the lives of single moms and their kids every day and it's such an honor for me to be in this list! Warm regards, Sasha".
