Feeling Safe

After being in an abusive marriage for years, Samantha and her husband separated; the husband ended up being sent to jail due to a restraining order violation. Samantha and her husband were in many court hearings for child support during the husband's time in jail. Due to years of alcohol abuse, the husband ended up dying while in jail; the court hearings came to a close with Samantha financially stranded unable to receive any child support.

The mom of two young children is now leaning on her church and local services to help sustain her family. Samantha came to Maintenance for Moms two months after her husband’s death while trying to pick up the pieces in her family’s life. She carries the additional stress and burden of how to provide for her family now. During her interview with MFM she stated, “I recently paid my property taxes on a credit card just so I could keep a roof over her family's head.” These are the widows Jesus calls us to love.

Samantha lives in the mountains and when she came to MFM she said her tires on her car were bald and she was so scared to leave her house to have to drive; especially with her kids in the car on mountain roads. Because of generous people partnering with Maintenance for Moms we were able to buy her a set of new tires.

Samantha said, “Thanks to Maintenance for Mom’s I was able to get new tires and got my car checked also. The mechanic they used was wonderful. God bless you.” The same day she got new tires Samantha said there was a major storm and she was able to test out her new tires saying “What a difference!” Maintenance for Moms may not be able to fix all of the problems the moms that come to us face, but we can definitely help ease their burdens.
