Have you ever been in the presence of someone who lives out the meaning of hard work? When I met and interviewed Fabiola, I knew at once that this woman is doing all she could to make a wonderful life for her children. She works 40 hours a week in her professional career then another 15 hours on the weekend to make ends meet. A mother of 4 and one on the way you can imagine how hard it is to leave your children in day care and head to work 7 days a week. Fabiola says she knows as a single mother this is what her family needs.
The day of our interview she told me she's been saving $20 here and there from her restaurant tips on the weekend. And since she had taken the day off work for her MFM interview and she had saved $300 she was so excited to surprise the kids by picking them up early from daycare and taking them to Gilroy Gardens for the rest of the day! This thoughtfulness and sacrifice is what made our team so in awe of Fabiola and the determination to give her kids love and memories as well as show them the meaning of hard work.
We were able to send Fabiola’s car into our trusted mechanic at Preferred Automotive in Gilroy after we approved the repair we were left waiting for parts to arrive. This took over a week and in that time Fabiola again moved our staff as she shared another testimony of her amazing ability to make the best out of a situation. Fabiola shared, “with this experience, we learned to appreciate our car. We were not able to get a rental. So, we got around by rides and walking. We were in need of groceries and water on one of the days. Since we do not easily fit in any car because we are a family of 5 we took our little wagon, took turns pulling it, and that's how we were able to get water and groceries home. We enjoyed the experience, we had a little ice cream and water break during the walk. The kids liked it but realized what a luxury it is to have a working car.
Thank you so much for this blessing! Thank you so much for praying for me. I do not think I can thank you and Maintenance for Moms enough.” Fabiola was a joy to work with and taught our staff what it looks like to make the best out of challenging situations. We pray that her car will continue to be a blessing and keep them safe for years to come.
We are so thankful that Maintenance for Moms was able to repair Fabiola’s car so that she can continue to do all she can to care for her family. Listen in on what Fabiola had to say, “I had taken my car to get fixed and paid $1,600 but was still overheating. We would drive home making multiple stops to give time to the car to cool off. I was afraid to cause an accident if my car turned off in the middle of an intersection. I really couldn't afford to make another big expense or get another car. I finally made the time to apply for Maintenance for Moms. I did not think I would qualify with having two jobs. I was surprised to have been scheduled for an interview and excited. It was great to be able to share my struggles and goals with someone and have Kathryn pray for me towards the end of the interview. I hope my car will keep running for a couple of years. I am so thankful to Maintenance for Moms for having helped us be safe on the road.”
