"Life is hard. It’s been a complete game of survival for me from my earliest childhood memories, all the way up to today. I’ve grown up around violence in my family and have experienced it firsthand myself in the most extreme, traumatic and damaging ways that set me on a path of self-destruction. I made mistakes and I’ve learned from them. I’ve managed to overcome events in my life that should have and could have ended every part of me emotionally, physically and mentally. I have children who depend on me. Giving up is an option; however I choose to believe that God has a plan for me and that I’m destined for greater things in my life.
Just when I [thought] I’m failing as a mom to my child because my vehicle is about to break down on me, I heard about Maintenance for Moms. With their help fixing my vehicle in a matter of 24 hours, I was in disbelief. My thoughts were flooded with “Why me?” “Am I really worth someone investing in?” The truth is things like this don’t happen to me. Maintenance for Moms has just reinforced that yes, I am worth it. I’m committed to continuing to invest in myself so that I can continue to provide for my child. Thank you for seeing something in me to want to help one of the biggest obstacles I was facing. I’m going to continue to focus on the good."
